New skate park opening in July

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Barb Iverson Skate Plaza at Nelson Park will be ready for skaters this July.

Construction crews will be starting the final concrete pours May 20 and the City Parks Department will add landscaping and finishing touches in June. 

“I think we will be very surprised about how busy the skate park will be,” Let’s Skate President Allison Dvorak said. “As soon as it’s open, I think it’s going to be active most of the day. As long as there are lights on, we’ll have people skating, sitting, reading, participating in this space, which is gonna be really cool to see, especially on this corner of Downtown.
